I have two cameras, a Canon 40D and a Nikon 5100.

I have an old microscope.

How do I attach the cameras (don't even know the best one to use) to the eyepiece of the scope.

For the 40D you need something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220467712418&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

For the Nikon 5100 you need something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NIKON-COOLPIX-P5100-P5000-LENS-ADAPTER-FOR-MICROSCOPES_W0QQitemZ260464499972QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca4e4dd04

or something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nikon-UR-E20-Step-Down-Adapter-for-Coolpix-P5000-P5100_W0QQitemZ350313851860QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLens_Accessories?hash=item5190552bd4

plus something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Microscope-Camera-Adapter-for-NIKON-CP-camera_W0QQitemZ400098717832QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5d27bdf088

Whether you are pleased with the results or not will depend on just how good the microscope lenses are (or aren't) and whether, if the focus system moves the objectives rather than the stage, it will bear the weight of the attached camera without 'creep' This would be more likely to be a problem with the heavy 40D.

If you use the 40D you will need to use an electronic cable realease and LiveView to enable accurate focussing.

Focussing on the LCD of the Nikon 5100 can be tricky.

Often people are disappointed when they try to photograph through an inadequate microscope, and if still interested, opt to spend a little more on a capable second hand instrument.

Thanks cactusdave,

Right now, I use my Nikon P5100 on the rear of my spotting scope for digiscoping. I really didn't want to use the 40d. I may have to invest in a good m'scope. Open wallet, pout out money. Photography keeps me broke.

I'll have to study the links you supplied.

Thanks again.
