Cyrtos, cytopharyngeal rods (nematodesmata)

Post by Charles Krebs »

Had some fun with that subject header.... reminded me of my Latin classes back in high school!

Anyway... I had thought the illustrations in Jahns "How to Know the Protozoa" perhaps exaggerated the size of the cyrtos in some of the species since I had never seen them that pronounced. Well, not any more. As you can see they are very obvious in some cases.

Hi Charles,

these are by far the most excellent images of the oral basket I've ever seen.

Many thanks!!

I did not see them in your older post, but I did look up the word. You cannot mistake them in these pictures Charles. All the pictures are fantastic, but the second one is spectacular
