Poppy pollen ...

Post by AndrewC »

Image

Pollen loaded anthers of a poppy from my backyard.
I could have shot this in many ways but to get the anther details and the pollen shed on the petals I decided to stack it - the stack is about 4cm deep shot in 0.5mm slices.

The hardest part was the amount of pollen constantly falling and releasing the load from the anthers.

This image is a pain to post on the web - it doesn't lend itself to compression and the saturated colours can vary wildly from monitor to monitor.

It comes out in mostly crimson and purple on the HD ready TV screen my son uses as a monitor. To me it looks somewhat posterised. In fact it would make an excellent poster.
