Really nice work Gerard!

I think I see a little stacking mush around the top of the bee's hairy back, and some halo'ing in the same area, but these are tricky subjects with all that hair! ;)

Lovely pose, and nice clean specimen!

Gerard,

Very good. Impressive subject!

To me the color balance looks off a bit... too green and a little yellow. I opened your image in Photoshop and measure the RGB values on the eye highlight and it was 103/126/97. A quick color adjustment made it look much better to me. (And I cloned out some of the "yellow haze" above the back).

If you would like to see the result I can either "private message" you, or post the modified image here.

Didn't do too much, but I think it helps. Color balance and a little "clean-up" over the yellow hair top left and right (and that could be improved more with a little more time).

The colour cast was a good catch, I didn't spot that at first but now with your colour corrected image to compare it's obvious there is a cast on the first image...

It's funny how we can not notice this stuff - I suppose we are used to the colours of things changing when we view them under different light temperatures (Mainly daylight and incandescent bulb).

Good shot, Gerard. She really looks snuggy warm in all that fuzz!

Very nice images: both the original shot, and the marked improvements resulting from the additional post-processing!

Gerard,

Wonderful shot! What lens, equipment did you use?

Charlie, good call on color balance and cleanup!

Hi Tom,this was done with a Nikkor 70/300mmVR at 102mm + a 12X Raynox lens.
