Anyone know their shells?
or specifically their sea molluscs?
This one is my daughters favourite, and its a whopper, about 8 inches long!
The aperture is big enough to fit a baseball in I reckon!
A natural fractal!
I have a shot of the whole thing but its way over the forum limit, not in file size but in object size. In other words its not anywhere near macro!

i read in another thread you have Tarantulas (Birdspiders)? Is that true? What species do you have?

Lovely subject, but I have no idea what it is.
With the EOS 10D and Vivitar macro lens, you have my first actual macro setup from a few years back! You can do a lot of good work with that combination. The Vivitar had to be the most bang for the buck in the macro world. I gave mine away to a poor friend, unfortunately they no longer seem to be sold in the USA, at least.

The closest i could find in my seashore guide is one called a Helmet Shell,in a group called Necklace Shells, but i forget the scientific nameHarold Gough wrote:It seems not to be anything in my European/Mediterranean books but there are a lot of species. All that can be said is that it is a Gastropod.

Yea thats it! There's one in the group with a 10 inch fin! I'd like to post a pic of the whole shell if possible.Harold Gough wrote:The genus is Cassidaria but that gets me no further in finding a match.
