Would you believe entire trees change from green to bright red, or bright yellow, and even golden brown. And then we get entire forests that show green/red/yellow/golden brown. See such a hillside agaist a bright blue sky and WOW! Unfortunately exceeds Rik's 6" limit for posting here

Intense colours indeed!

If you have access to a grape vine you may find that autumn colours show a wider range, with some more subtle hues. Strawberry leaves are somewhat intermediate between grape and the maple.

Ah, but what you've described is clearly a Favorite Location!

No field size limits in that forum, and 4 images allowed. Still only 800 pixels, though...

We are almost at peak color here in New Hampshire. A very beautiful picture and wonderful seasonal colors.

In my opinion, the mixed colours have more impact at the leaf scale, whereas the red is suited to the tree scale, preferably in the context of trees of other colours. The latter presents a problem in this forum!

They are both very lovely. :D now if only it would stop raining and I could go find some nice autumn colours before they've all been blown away by the raging wind.!!

We need a decent frost to finalise the colours.

The two-spot ladybirds Adalia bipunctata which spend the winter along the hinge end of one of our windows, between the opening part and the frame, are still emerging in the daily sunlight. 8)
