Centropyxis aculeata Amoebae covered with quartz grains. Image 8 done with DIC 25x and shows a bit more distortion.

Pictures were taken with an Ortholux II scope with mirror house and Canon Speedlite electronic flash. The mirror house allows the user to switch over between 2 light sources and is useful for moving micro-objects like these.
