Connecting Microscope Lenses As Serial

Post by lonepal »

Hi;

Can I get a good image quality if I connect 2 mitutoyo lenses in serial?

For example if I combine 5X and 10X? Will I get a 50X with good image quality :)

Thanks.
Regards.

I don't think it could be worth:
If properly mounted you can capture the aerial image of the front objective and further magnify its central zone with the the second one that could act in some sense like an eyepiece, effectively providing 50X.
In principle the image resolution will only depend of the frontal lens. If it outresolves your sensor you will experiment some improvement, if not you only will get empty magnification.

In any case, if you want to experiment it I suggest you to put the higher NA objective at the frontal position,
