In very polluted waters of Parqué Rodó, Montevideo, Uruguay we find this beautiful diatom of Gomphonema genus.
In the first part of the video we observe the muscilaginous stem with which it is fixed to the substrate.

Interesting clip. Diatoms seem always to be on the move; this clip gives a better idea of its 3 dimensional appearance.
