Testing 100X objectives on a metallurgical scope.
First a baseline 40X stack
100X dry objective
And the big surprise - 100X oil objective

I should have put the specs of the objectives in the original post, which I will do from now on. The objectives are:
NIKON MPlan 40 0.65 210/0
The dry 100x objective may have come with an Amscope kit.
100/1.25
160/0.17
The 100X oil is a SWIFT objective that I have previously tested against my other oil objectives in transmitted light microscopy. This was the first time I tried it on a metallurgical scope with immersion oil and am very impressed by its performance.
SWIFT S-MICRO
100 1.25 Oil

NA 1.25 is an oil immersion objective for sure. The maximum NA attainable in air is 0.95 (and with water immersion 1.2, I think).
Not surprising the bad results without oil _________________ Pau |
