This is a parasitic mite. That infects a species of ant called Solenopsis molesta. From Iowa city Iowa. Also known as a thief ant. (Due to often living along side colony's of larger ants. From which it steals food and eggs from.) It is a relative of the fire ant. But too small to sting people. Which have workers about 1.5 millimeters in length. Magnification about 400x. Stacked image.
