Post by Mo Vaughan »

I have been looking at organisms from a small drop of pond water. Its absolutly fasinating. I do not really know what I am looking at as I am awaiting a book on micro organisma from pond and river, to help me identify these organisms.

Mo

Greetings from Portugal...only 14'C today but blue sky.

I have no idea what the middle picture is of, but I am pretty sure that the other two are the multicellular spores of fungi. They are often quite abundant at this time of year due to all the decaying plant material, leaves etc in the water.

best wishes

These to belonging to the Ascomycota. The ascus (sac) contains the spores. :D
