Hallo to everyone!
First of all I would like to thank for this forum. A lot of useful information and hours of reading and reading))
My first stack of gadfly’s head after some tests with shutter speed and aperture. Just to say that I am in)
Any treatment except resizing.

Canon 600d, Canon 100mm L macro, raynox DCR 250, WeMacro, Helicon focus.
38 stacks, 50um, 1/2 sec, ISO 200, light out of window (during first tests flash’s accumulators have died)

PS
Found this gadfly completely dead and dry. While cleaning the head fell of.
After resizing image quality became much wors. In real it is unexpectedly much better)

Congratulations with your debut!

I find your first picture here interesting and eye-catching.
It shows very sharp details. The lines in the eye are fascinating.

The shade behind the face, the scars, faded colors and the missing parts (the broken antennas) give me associations to an ancient figure exhibited on a museum wall.

It looks like it has a story to tell. (Not nescessaryly the true story!)

I only miss the point of the mouth parts.

Troels, you are totally right with missing part... Frankly, I have mentioned this only before stacking, but my impatience did not let me to make new photos)
In future I will be more attentive.

And let me ask you one more question. I was promptly studying Photoshop and Lightroom. Does my foto after treatment look too unreal?

Compared with your description of the physical conditions of the fly head I find the picture very realistic. Frankly it is difficult for me to state if the colors are exactly right or not. But I like them.

An other question is if it looks alive. Definitely not. That would be a miracle given the actual conditions.

In the history of art we have a glorious tradition of picturing dead animals and dried flowers. The traces of dead and decay has its own romantic and dramatic appeal. It even has its own label: Momento Mori
