Shortest 400x microscope/magnifier?

Protami looks nice, but you may want to verify its size and weight, against your Swift. It may not be smaller or lighter.

Build quality of the scope is not very good. I have broken 2 already, simply by leaving them in my backpack without case.

Image quality is only decent under 10x lens. Not good under 40x lens.

Seller may not ship quickly, as he is an old guy and sometimes does not check/reply his emails (I have met him in person, he is nice and just wants to get rid of those scopes - he probably imported those long time ago, hoping to make money; but they have never sold well).

But the scope is light, pocketable and comfortable to use.

Condenser can be avoided to reduce size and weight, up to 400x visual magnification at least: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=36552

But we still need a very light weight, but rigid and precise focus drive, for portable microscopy at NA 0.65 or 400-450x visual magnification. DIY solution using regular RMS objectives may have a hard time getting to less than 4lbs. At least I have not found a solution.
