Hello all,

Back with the microscopes after being away with other interests, and have tried to get some decent shots with KFe2CN as it always gave me beautiful and interesting images, e.g. ]

but not having kept the records I should have, my recent attempts have come up short - good crystals but lacking the colors, e.g.

About the only thing I can think of that might be different is using DI H2O rather than tap H2O for the solvent - perhaps the chloride ions in the softened water are a contributor?

All the best,
Mike

played with this and Potassium ferracyanide and found them to be so-so.
Since they are water soluable, try using rubbing alcohol as a solvent and see how that crystalizes.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for the response - have one sitting now made with IPA so will let you know.

just cannot understand why I had so much luck with that material (exact same bottle) those years ago.

I would like to attach a photo but for some reason cannot upload today. How does one go about deleting photos from his gallery?

All the best,
Mike
