Jumping spider Nurses Spiderlings for 20 Days on Milk

Post by RobertOToole »

First time I have heard of this.

Female Toxeus magnus jumping spiders native to tropical and subtropical areas in Asia, produce nutrient-rich milk to feed their young for weeks, even after the spiderlings begin to hunt on their own. Here, a 1-week-old juvenile nurses an area of its mother’s abdomen from which the milk is available.
