Hot peppers

Post by Kieran Jones »

Below are some hot peppers along with their Scoville hotness ratings measured in Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

The three longish yellow peppers in the center are Fatalii (100,000 - 300,000 SHU)

The three wrinkled red peppers on the left and center are Carolina Reaper (1,569,000 average SHU)

The large round red pepper on the right is a 7 Pot (700,000 - 1,200,000 SHU)

I don't know the type of the small red pepper in the lower right.

Imaging Info:
12 MP DSLR w/105mm macro lens
11 images focus-stacked
Focus shifting performed manually
Electronic flash illumination in light box

Very pretty; nicely presented and photographed. I like peppers for photography; their colors are nigh as vivid as their Scoville numbers!

Hello Leonard:

Thank you for your comments. I can attest to the accuracy of the Scoville rating system, particularly after sampling the Carolina Reaper!
