A Diabolical Patience ...

Post by JohnKoerner »

Image
Arizona Mantid Nymph
(Stagmomantis limbata)

34-image stack (Zerene DMap + PMax for retouch), taken with Nikon D810 + Voigtländer 125mm f/2.5 SL Apo-Lanthar Macro.

Natural light, as-found in nature ... (cropped out a leaf in the upper-right though).

Spectecular stack!

How did you take 34 photos without any movement on the leaf or the mantis? Is it handheld?
Regards.

The breeze at the time was very faint, almost not there. Probably would have been too much for 3:1, but at ~1:1 not so bad. I used a tripod, composed in Live View, and used a macro rail + a remote switch to actuate the shutter.
