I am having difficulty positioning chilled or dead insects for photography.
I have heard that using a bed of 1 mm glass spheres makes this easier.
I can find no source for small quantities, such as 4 0z volume, for sale.
All I have found is larger quantities that cost more than I am willing to spend for many more than I need.
Any one know of a source for small quantities.
Glass spheres, 1 mm. source.

In the UK you can buy "glass microbeads" on sites like eBay for "nail art". These are usually said to be 0.7mm in diameter and come in lots of colours, but clear beads are inexpensive.
Example:

I have never used them so can't say whether they will do what you want.

I am not familiar with this technique.William Downing wrote:I have heard that using a bed of 1 mm glass spheres makes this easier.
Can you provide a pointer to more information? Thanks!

I was intrigued to read in an eBay advertisement that in the U.S. small beads are becoming more difficult to source because they are now prohibited for use in cosmetics. The note was in an advertisement for glass beads. I doubt that the prohibition actually applies to glass, since the only legislation I can find specifies plastic, e.g. H.R.1321 - Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015, text here. But that was the story.
Anyway, for the moment beads are still available, for example:

I'm still curious about the intended use for "positioning chilled or dead insects". I see references for use in relaxing containers, but ??
