I`ll have to do all that testing.
I`m not using any long exposure shots on getting the stack. I`m only woring that if there is an issue with light leaks through the view finder the fact that I perform the all shooting incide a close "box" enhances the ugly result.

I`ll come back with my results.

All Ex, if you got your problem with a stripped BD Plan you definitely have to close the light path between the inner and outer shell because definitely a LOT of light would enter there.
If the problem also occurs with a non-stripped objective I can't help.

Is this mist always visible, or does it appear only in stacked results that have been saved to file?

If you have the second case (mist visible only in stacked results saved to file), then probably your problem is that you have selected "Retain extended dynamic range", in the file saving options of Zerene Stacker. Uncheck that option and the problem will disappear.

If you have the first case (mist always visible), then "Retain extended dynamic range" is not your problem.

Thank you Rik, I`ll try your suggestion tomorow and I`ll post the results.

Now that I finished a job that I was doing I looked and :
Unfortunately the "mist" is sowing in all the files, and the "Retain extended range" is unchecked.

Today I performed several stackings with the following results:

Image

It was taken with a small piece of wood wich I glued on a nidle.
  • In the second I plased a cloth around the tube lens
  • In the third I plased black tape on my tube
  • In the last one I redused the step as to give me from appr. 30, ten steps more
All the above with the eyepiece shutter closed.

I must mention that in the beggining I looked inside the tube and with the aid of a torsch light it does not seem light to penetrate in the tube.

It doesn`t seem the write example (the piece of wood) but it sows to me that the problem is present.

Any opinions?

You mention that you "shoot inside a closed box". Could you be getting reflections from the shiny surface of the clear plastic base and/or reflections from the interior of the box?

My shoting box serves the perpose to eliminate any reflections, thus it is all covered with flocking paper except from a small "window" behind the specimen in wich I put, on its outer side, a colored card in an angle of 45 degrees, to provide background color.
It only has a wite silling that it is placed behind the objective, in the frond of it is floking paper too.

Finally today after so many effort and disappointment the first light switched on for me.
It seemed that the creator of the fleur was the "dark box:" I was using.
Meanwhile today the cable that connects the stack shot to my laptop could not perform the connection, thus for the first time I performed the stack directly from the controller, I think I found the solution :

Here are some photos from the "black box" I was using.

Image

Image

You can see the side covered with flocking paper. The back side is covered with black cartone.

And there is a detail of the outside, placed in 45 degrees bacikground.
