Charles - I also think that the stereo-pictures are lovely.

Rik - Probably a question for a separate thread. This pictures made me realize that I -when a picture is used in a more scientific context- should inform viewers that there might be (or always is?) a distortion in the Z-axis. In your opinion, how is this best explained/described?

Well, you wrote the software but I am inclined to disagree.

The 50X image is not without it's problems...primarily the "softness" in the sections where the grains overlap the (background) anther. (Very little retouching was done). But as far as the shape and depth of the grains and 3D effect I find it very satisfactory.
