A few details based on personal communication with competition officials:
- Home-made microscopes: While eligible images must be made with a light microscope, those from home-made microscopes (such as my macro rig) are definitely eligible: "The homemade microscope is a new and growing sector of the contest and we are excited to collect and judge these images."
Our Administrators Appreciation Awards: While images that have won another competition are not eligible, our forum's Administrators Appreciation Award is not considered a competition and does not affect Nikon Small World eligibility.
Video: "The video portion of the contest is of great interest, Small World in Motion is relatively new and video microscopy is in the infancy stage, so I feel this contest is wide open. The videos and still images are judged separately each year."
