Hello,

i don't speak very well English but i read sometimes your forum. I'm happy to discover your photo. My speciality are minerals but i like photo of all style.

I try a fly (fly are common on this forum :) ). All comments or questions are welcome.

After some others photo if you want.

Welcome to the forum, you've started with a pretty good fly 8)
Of course we would like to know what you used, how you did it, and all that :D

Nice ... clean and sharp ...

What's your Rig setup Ploum? ... Camera?, Lens used, lighting & diffusion? ...

hello,

i try to explain for moment i can... ;)

objective is here an APO componon 40 mm

FOV 3 mm

i use a tracing paper for diffusion

i have done 600 photo (i could done less.... but it's not a problem for my system) with 1/30 s exposure.

I have built my system and he is not motorized. I take with my hands relatively fastly one image/s.

I use a manfrotto plate 454

Light are 10 LED 2700 k

I use a panasonic GF5 avec a projective lens : raynox DCR 150 and lens tube nikon (system CFI).

Fly or insect are not my speciality but that seems be good as minerals

some example of today work. Self collected in France.

mimetite same objective (300 photo - 600 photo)

ONE THOUSAND IMAGE STACK!! Wow. That's dedication. Fixing the transparent foreground does pay off in the end.

Looks like the left (from my POV) antenna moved during the stack.

That's quick. Mine took 10 hours for a 449 image stack. :(

A good processor is usefull for staking.... ;)
I work with a manfrotto 454 but uncommon system. No limitation, no motorisation, good precision.
Objective : rodagon 135 mm, BW APO 2x, Compon S 80 mm, nikon CFI 4x, APO componon 40 mm, componon 28 mm, APO plan 10x, Mitutoyo APO 10x, BW APO SLWD 20x. Nikon CF EPI 10x, APO SEIWA 20x, MACRO ZUIKO 35 mm, nikon MPLAN ELWD 0.5 40x, NIKON CFI PF 10x.

What I keep on pondering is how you manage to control the Manfrotto 454 to get those micron sized steps?. Also, I guess that you move the sample rather than the camera, right?.

Hum yes i use a manfrooto plate, excellent for me :).

I move my GF5 but i move sometimes object.... But clearly it's manfrooto plate who is moved for stacking.

In fact i have a precision who increase with magnification. With a 20x precison is 0.01 micrometer.

An scientific french forum they mock about my system. But my system is simple and i dont' need microsope plate, motorisation or precision system.

I give an example with a 20x here... For 40x i have a problem with vibration but precison is near 1 nanometer.... And my system is an infinite system or i have just à 210 mm objective and for moment i don't try to change distance. It's not usefull a 40x for minerals.

I understand perfectly yours systems but mine is very different and simple. whan i have built it, i would to get around problems of precision. I have finished. I have tested empirically two solutions. I have take one. For moment i never seen my system somewhere else.

My system is good for all objective and i can use 135 mm or 10 mm objective. I take phote with the same technic with 0.1 mm physic precison (manfrotto is very good for that) but optically precision increase...

My system can take 2000 photo if it's usefull. No limit, small price, best results. Motorisation is possible but i dont' use. I take 1 photo/s and it's fast.
