The single zooid does not seem to extend much beyond the rim of its vase, which would suggest Vaginicola grandis. However, the size range you give is too small. V. ingenita is not known to have zoochlorellae.Jacek wrote:about 70 to 180 microns
So...clear lorica, zoochlorellae, under 200 µm: Vaginicola crystallina Ehrenberg, 1830 (until something better comes along ). Normally, you'd find two critters in the jar, but singletons are not unusual.
I have a suspicion that these (very old) taxa are somewhat questionable. The Vaginicolidae seem to be a sleepy branch of ciliatology...Looking over the literature, it strikes me that the family is overdue for a revision!
