I like the colours.
There is something 'soft' about the image. The Nikon 10X /0.30 should have provided a much sharper result.
Did you apply any additional processes in post-production? Do you recall the number of images used for the focus stack?
I revisted your picasaweb gallery. Mécanismes de montres is an interesting image.

It's worth mentioning that some types of scales are very smooth, with little or no visible detail across the face. The effect looks similar to noise reduction, but since Gérard says he didn't use any, I would guess the bluish scales are like this. When I look at the brown scales, for example in the upper left corner, they have visible fine detail.
