Polarized spirogyra

Post by Charles Krebs »

I realize shots like this are not everyone's "cup-of-tea", but sometimes I just enjoy playing around with the lines and out of focus shapes of this type of alga. (I also love the way they can remind me of a miniature bamboo grove when polarized this way. )

Yes, bamboo was the first thing that I thought of! Very nice pictures and it is always good to try a new approach.

And a little note on the darkfield discussion of last week. I have not managed to create much shorter exposures than 5 seconds so there must be something wrong with my set up. Although the quality of the images I got were quite o/k. I made s small series but my flash card went corrupt. I have to retrieve the files or shoot some new ones when I have time.

Very eerie images, like the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge at night. Nice and sharp and very detailed.
