"We went to waterfalls. I can't describe the beauty of those scenes, watching my self in water reflected by moonshine. Traveler, come and see!"

Adolf Weber Tkalcevic, filologist and travelwriter, 1860.

Near Slunj, the River Korana receives Slunjcica, a rivulet, which at its mouth makes the Rastoke Waterfalls.
Ethno-turistic village of Rastoke, surrounded by a delta like mouth of Slunjcica where it joins the River Korana, merits the epithet of "Small Plitivice", as an introduction to the Plitvice rhapsody.
Softness of the green country roads, ideal for bicycle riding, walking through the Matesic cave or Jelvik pine forest, a pleasurable smell of just caught trout by the banks of potable Slunjcica, the taste of bread made of several types of grains milled in the watermills at Rastoke, while 3 rivers embrace and enhance the natural beauty of the region (Korana, Slunjcica and Mreznica).
The junction of the traditional architecture and natural landscape makes an excellent demonstration of the possible coexistence of man and Earth.
Destination for enthusiast anglers, speleologists, today's Robinsons, sportsmen, recreationists, nature lovers, everyone will find their part of the world here.
Rastoke are made by play of nature on the place where River Slunjcica connects with river Korana. Nature played with blue-green waters of river Slunjcica and spread them in many big and small waterfals. The most beautiful are Buk Hrvoje and Vilina kosa (fairys hair). Rastoke are very similar to Plitvice lakes, but much smaller. For the difference between Plitvice lakes and Rastoke, this place are special beacuse of village with many millers (dating back to the 17. century, some of them possibly older). The things that nature made for thousands of years, and man later trying to make his living comfortable, with surrounding rocks, old forts and small city Slunj are many parts of perfect picture that reflects the living in this area. Because of that history, etnographic and architecture remains Rastoke are written in Registry of unmoveable statues of culture of Regional institution for saving statues of culture in Zagreb.

Totem used in scenes of Winnetou Indian village

In early 1960s Winnetou and Old Shatterhand had their first appearance on the Silver Screen. From 1962 to 1968, nine movies were made, with Pierre Brice starring as the brave Winnetou, and Lex Barker as the dashing Old Shatterhand.
The movies were based on German author Karl May novels, and the breathtaking scenes filmed on locations in Croatia - Paklenica, Plitvice Lakes, Kornati archipelago (Silver Lake), rivers Krka, Zrmanja and Cetina, and other canyons and rivers, enchanted the world.

You know a lot of folks like to get that slow flowing effect in waterfall scenes such as the first two but I rather like the way you have captured them here Nikola. Very Happy I must say you have a beautiful country. It is areas like these one does not see much anymore due to the encroachment of mankind or his failure to preserve such beauty if indeed he does notice it, though here it appears as though someone has taken notice and is doing an excellent job of preservation. I could spend sometime around a place like that. Very Happy

We have areas like this or similar to, here in North Carolina and people in their apprecaition for such beauty have built houses and condo's around the areas so they can look at it everyday and show it off to their house guests. Now what was once a pristine area has now gone by the wayside, marred by the presence of asphalt, brick, and pollution; both environmental and visual. Sad

Worry about the image that comes out of the box, rather than the box itself.
