Another shot using my crappy Carl Zeiss Planar 3.5cm. It just doesn't produce a super sharp image. I have painted, flocked, made Kleenex diffusers....learn't new photoshop techniques (smart sharp / high pass). Any more tips and help would be appreciated to achieve my goal in getting a super sharp image. Budget lens recommendations etc.
I use a 7D, Canon FD Bellows, 2no. 580ex ii diffused with Kleenex toilet tissue, Newport Linear Stage.

I assume your subject is in no hurry and you can take the time to get it right? Then use live view at 10x to focus. If that doesn't get it, then your at the limits of that lens.
