Bdelloid rotifer

Post by Charles Krebs »

Some of the first amazing creatures I encountered when I started looking through the microscope a few years back were a group of Bdelloid rotifers. Almost immediately I started working on an electronic flash arrangement so I could better see and understand the motion of the cilia. I must have thousands of shots of "cilia", but I can't pass it up... here's a recent one.

This is an eriee shot, with each cilium being more clearly seen than that of the Stentor with the rotation of each indiviual cilium still being somewhat presented. Beautiful :D
