the discover of such a biotope near home boost my microscopy observations.

the first is likely M.crux-melitensis, but not sure...

it's not M.crux,but M.rotata again.
the last one, M.jenneri is quite rare in Europe.

Please don't stop -- I like these last two best of all.

The oblique lighting gives such a nice 3D appearance.

Are these single shots, or stacked?

My first Micrasterias from nearby pond bog:

Micrasterias rotata

Micrasterias denticulata

CZJ 16/0.40, MF projektiv 3.2x and (dark field condenser Meopta paraboloid)

That sure is a nice spot for microbe hunting. There will be many other interesting algae, protists and micro animals.

I don't think that is M crux melitensis. It looks like an anomality. I hope you can find one. Micrasterias jenneri is something special. It always looks a bit battered. I suspect it is has a wild character.
