Urocentrum turbo : Conjugating or Dividing ?
(Image extracted from movie frame : 400x magnification)
In the above image I am wondering if these Urocentrum turbos are in a state of conjugation or division? I often see Urocentrums dividing but they look more like the following image, dividing from top to bottom rather than side to side:
(Image extracted from movie : 200x magnification )
So are the Urocentrums in the top image enjoying a moment of conjugation?
Thanks for any insight. - Tom in New Mexico

Hi Bernhard,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I think it is conjugation but can't find much information on the web when I google " Urocentrum turbo conjugation". I couldn't find any images.
I made a page of short movies at

Hi,
may be that's asked to much. But if you google "ciliates conjugation", you get lots of entries, i.e. this one: http://combio.abo.fi/seminars/Chang_10Mars06.pdf
Cheers

Many thanks Bernhard,
I haven't been thinking in terms of "ciliates" so this will be a helpful clarifier in future searches.
