Another Cape Cod souvenir ...
One of these images has a fault - clue is the size of the specimen.
To get the proboscis extended, I hooked a bent pin over it and left it hanging overnight !

OK, I give up. I can see some halo in #2, especially around the wingtip at left of image. But I can't get my eye on anything else. What is the size of this specimen, anyway?AndrewC wrote:One of these images has a fault - clue is the size of the specimen.

Getting on for 35mm from nose to trailing edge - too big for my lowest mag lens (reversed 80mm) on my bench to get in one shot. I shot two stacks (front half and back half) and then threw them into Autopano Pro. It did a pretty god job but there is a little alignment fault visible half way along the leading edge of the lower wing. Still I was quite impressed with it.

#2 just squeezed in - that's why it's an oblique angle !
APP seems quite accomodating with badly shot pano's, but I was quite surprised how well it came out. I'd love to put together a telecentric rig but don't don't have the time / pieces just now. I do have a Nikon 85mm PC lens for which I'm building a stage.

Thanks - the background (this month) is a slightly off white mottled "art letter paper", the kind you see racks and racks of in art shops for writing expensive letters on !Harold Gough wrote:Excellent shots. Your white backgrounds are really effective.

Andrew,
I'm not sure whether it was to you that I said it before but these people are the leading users of images with white backgrounds:
