Interesting XYZ Combo

Post by augusthouse »

This is an interesting XYZ combo, given our recent discussion regarding translation stages.

Here is the Olympus BHMJ focusing block, a toolmaker's microscope stage (Mitutoyo 319-101 Microstage) and Mitutoyo micrometers, plus other bits.

Craig,
Looks good! What is the piece attached to the base of the Olympus block?

You've played around with some pretty nice "Z" movement pieces, so how do you like the BHM block in comparison?

This is strange. Type Mitutoyo 319-101 Microstage into Google and you get 2 companies selling this exact same piece:
LabX at $859.50; recycledgoods at $850.91.
Makes me wonder who actually owns the piece (perhaps even a 3rd party).

Somebody who can use it should offer them $200 for it. I bet they'll take it.

Charlie,

I found the item while looking for a suitable way to attach the BHMJ focusing block to a similar microstage that I already own. The picture above is from an eBay listing. The brackets and stage support appear to be a good way to link all the pieces together.

My new setup will look and work similar to the one pictured if you can imagine a stage made from a lens board attached to the front of the BHMJ. It will all fit nicely on the baseboard of the PF-4.

I'm waiting for the BHMJ to arrive. The currency exchange rate and various shipping quotes are ridiculous at the moment.

Gene, I'd offer them $200.00 but they want almost $500.00 USD to post it to Australia. The Aussie dollar is significantly under-valued at the moment, so the current exchange-rate dampens such an impulse.

They appear to have additional BHMJ and brackets available. I'm just reading some responses to emails I have received from RecycledGoods. I sent through a few enquiries.

Here are some additional images of the BHMJ and brackets. The item pictured at the link below is sold; but the pictures are useful (just need to turn that stage-holder up the other way).

*The BHMJ can also be post mounted (as demonstrated in the second link below).
