I think this is a common darter which according to Dragonfly Ireland likes shallow ponds, lakes and garden ponds - none of which are in my area - unless you count the relentless rain.!

I had to change my clothes twice - from kneeling on the ground- wet and boggy... it was windy, raining (only very lightly but I was wiping drops from the camera) and the sun was coming in and out! Shot with available light. (Might post flash pics tomorrow).

It's very pretty!! and the background also looks great, specially the first one with a hint of purple.

I like the first one too, though the second one is kind of nice. The dragon fly looks a little lost and perplexed, I suppose though, while the last one appears to be happy-go-lucky. :D
