Greetings and salutations fellow macro photographers! :)

Since I'm new, I'll start with posting something.

"Who's looking at who?"

and finally

"Mrs. Driller"

Welcome.

I have to point out that any drilling is done by the Mrs! :)

Yeah you're absolutely correct. Imagine what a typo can do

I love the first two. The colour is fab and so are the droplets.

How did you get them and what did you use? Apart from equipment, time of day would be good, or was it after rain?

Well, I have to say your photos are great for a first time post Particle_Man. I would like to welcome you to the forums. We have a great bunch of people from all over the world here in the forums and it looks like you will fit in rather well. The hoverfly and mosquito are wonderful. Love the angle of the skeeter. It looks like she really means business with those dark eyes and long straw.
As an Admin I have to point out that the forum guidelines only allow three pictures per post per day. Full guidelines can be found here.

I look forward to seeing more pictures Particle_Man (reminds me of a song)

Some great images there Particle_Man, welcome aboard. :D Yep Doug there is right about the three image limit per forum, within a 24 hr. time frame, your time of course. If you could kindly edit your post to reflect the guidelines it would be okay. Not to worry though, this happens every now and then.

Well, I'll step in here and mention that this post was first made yesterday, at which point there were only three images at least on my browser.

A fourth image appeared today, and I see that the post has been edited, so I'm thinking that it's actually OK even though it doesn't appear to be.

But it's always good to mention the rules, anyway, just in case. :D BTW, we changed the rules from "every 24 hours" to "every calendar day" a while back, hoping to simplify life.

Very nice images, Particle_Man. I'm looking at that last image and thinking that a Sigma 150 won't go in quite that close, unless that's some whopping mosquito. Are these images also cropped, or with some tubes added?

Now I've changed the post so there is 3 images to reflect the guidelines. :)

when I took the skeeter shot it had been raining for several hours and the sun had popped up again.

Setup was (for all the shots except the hoverfly, which had no softbox):

Nikon D80
Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro
Sb-800 off camera with a small sized softbox camera right

Some cropping has been done to the images since I had no equpiment to go beyond 1:1 at the time. I do have to admit that the mosquito was rather large by swedish standards. My hand still whimpers. :)

Right now I'm trying to master my 150 with a 28/50mm lens reversed (it does take some getting used to).

I really like the first picture.

Can't really figure out which insect it really is, but the whole scene, with its special colours, make it great in my opinion.

I really like the first two. The green bug in the first one resembles one I spotted a few weeks ago cavorting in one of my cacti.

The perspective and composition of the second image are striking.

Thanks for sharing.

Roy
