This is nothing new to me, as I have been on the recieving end of this, resulting from a spider bite while living in the Philippine Islands. It is as painful as it looks in those photographs, believe me...

The spider that bit me had either gotten into my clothing or my bedding, resulting in a very serious and painful bite to my thigh and destroying a good bit of tissue. The flight surgon put me on a rigorous treatment of antibiotics and pain killers. I still bear the scar, though now quite small as it was many years ago, from my arachind ordeal.
