While searching for info on the Black / Brown Widow spider, I came across this posting.

This is nothing new to me, as I have been on the recieving end of this, resulting from a spider bite while living in the Philippine Islands. It is as painful as it looks in those photographs, believe me... :( The spider that bit me had either gotten into my clothing or my bedding, resulting in a very serious and painful bite to my thigh and destroying a good bit of tissue. The flight surgon put me on a rigorous treatment of antibiotics and pain killers. I still bear the scar, though now quite small as it was many years ago, from my arachind ordeal. :smt085
