Backyard Series #37 (narcissistic narcissus)

Post by Michigan Michael »

If you will recall your Greek mythology, Narcissus was a handsome youth who fell in love with his own reflection. Here is my interpretation:

Nice sharp picture, well composed, just right on DOF imo...

Personally if I were shooting this subject with the idea of reflection particularly in mind I would maybe have tried to get more of the reflection into the shot, not sure what that would have done to the composition though... Did you try any shots encompassing the whole reflection?

I did, indeed. In the end I felt that the larger reflection detracted from the overall composition and from the subject.

Lovely shot Michael, just a pity about the green stem;unavoidable I suppose. What did you use for the reflective base?

I used a sheet of black acrylic for the reflection--what a dust magnet!
As for the stem... I kind of like it. I feel that it gives a "base" to the flowers.
For those who find the stem distracting, it is easily removed.
