Vespula vulgaris

Post by Guido »

I received the Raynox 250 in the mail yesterday.
The goal was to use it on the Olympus 60 macro. But it works with many of my lenses!
Pentax K1, F 100/2,8 macro, Raynox 250, F16, 1/125, Iso 800

The Raynox c/u lenses are so useful and under-rated for 'in the field' imaging. Too many photographers assume they 'must have a macro lens' for insect photography .. but Raynox lenses even on a kit zoom enable excellent results.

And now for something completely different.

Thx Dunk.

Dunk an I have doubts on the ID of this wasp. Maybe other opinions?

Nice image! I agree that the Raynox lenses are underrated.

About the ID... Given the facial markings shown here and the criteria at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespula_g ... tification , this would likely be a "common wasp" Vespula vulgaris .

I agree with Rik that it's likely to be a Common Wasp. The Red Wasp also has an anchor facial mark.
