Noticed a couple of thrips on daisies I found. The thrips are so small that they often remain unnoticed, this was the first time I had a closer look at them anyhow. Because they're covered with pollen it's more easy to get an idea of their actual size.

Pictures were taken with reflected darkfield, respectively 4x, 11x, 6.5x, 6.5x, 6.5x and 11x objective. The thrips I found the other day- in picture 3- is different from the black-red one. I heard there are over 6 or 7 thousand different species!

Interesting photos, I've never seen a Thrip this close up. Hope it doesn't have allergies because that pollen looks pretty sneezy. Very Happy

Nice!

They are certainly effective at transporting pollen around! I have to admit to never having noticed (or heard of) Thrips, I'll have a look at my dasies.
