Sometime back, one of the post mentioned tube lens is Not needed for finite microscope objective is this correct ?

Yes it is.

Instead of achieving the nominal magnification by putting nominal focal length tube lens behind the objective, you use the nominal extension for same purpose. Note that the nominal extension is reduced by 10mm for direct photography.
