small ciliate ID

I ran into a bunch of these, and have spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what they are. 40x DIC, flash. Bodies ~20um. I can't decide if the large vacuoles were a result of environment or a feature of this ciliate.

and by changing focus a bit (to the surface I think), I would see this:

Any help is appreciated, so I can put these into a correct folder ID.
