Macro Trip to Coorg Rainforest - India - 2018 - Part II

Continuing on the earlier thread. The first set of photos are here:

Generally when macrographers visit Coorg to photograph subjects, one of the subjects in the wishlist is the Indrealla Ampula Snail. I was lucky to spot and photograph this amazing snail.

The first two photos are with the Tamron 15-30 2.8 VC II. The remaining ones are with the Canon 100mm.

There are lot of orchids also present in the rainforests and I was introduced to them for the first time. This is an Oberonia Orchid which grows specific in the hills. The first photo is 1x magnification. The photo below is at 3.5x magnification. Both photos are taken with the Canon MPE 65mm.

For the water snake photo, we found it in a lily pond inside the resort. My camera and the Venus KX800 is almost touching the water surface to bring it nearby the eye level of the water snake.

A Harvestman enjoying the moisture and monsoon season.

An unknown orchid.

Scalloped Spreadwing Damselfly.

Riding Triple. Dont know if this is an odd behaviour pattern.

An unknown grasshopper.

Leafhopper.

Unknown Crane Fly type with a long proboscis.

I really enjoyed the snail pictures (and of course the orchids). I liked the wide but not overpoweringly wide viewpoint of the snail pictures.

The Indrella Ampula is one of the star subjects to photograph at that place. The snail is huge and kind of dominates its territory.

The wide photos were taken with the Tamron 15-30 2.8. Ofcourse with the Canon 80D this was not ultra wide but I wanted to project a habitat style photo of it.

That's what I like about it. It is wide enough to place the animal in its environment, but not so wide as to be distracting.
