I'm looking to use my old EOS M3, but it doesn't have a regular trigger input. Is anyone aware of a method of triggereing via:
a) the flash connector
b) the USB connector
c) the HDMI connector?
Or am I dreaming? :-)
Cheers

Thanks for that. I have pondered IR, but it seems to me that if I have to go to the effort of pressing the IR button, I might as well work out how to do that directly on the camera shutter button. I don't belive that there is an option to trigger the IR any other way?Adalbert wrote:Hi Graham,
What about IR?

get an IR remote control for your camera, modify it like shown below, this way, you can control your camera electronically.

Thanks for the link. The deatils of the mod are missing and I can't (at a quick glance) see anything on Peter's web page that describes it. I'll dig more later.mjkzz wrote:get an IR remote control for your camera, modify it like shown below, this way, you can control your camera electronically.

Thanks again.
oh, sorry, I thought I wrote detailed description. Anyways, it is easy, if you open it up, it normally has a SOIC-8 chip, find the ground, usually connected to the negative terminal of battery, then find the lead connected to the push button. After that, you can simply solder wires to the 3.5 or 2.5 stereo plug.
Ok, thanks for that. However, the basic issue that I'm trying to circumvent is that the M3 doesn't have a stero plug trigger (mjkzz wrote:oh, sorry, I thought I wrote detailed description. Hence the gymnastics.

Ah, thanks Peter! The link from the OP you made is broken. There may be a full description, but I couldn't find it.mjkzz wrote:ah, I think I did not express myself clearly. The 3.5mm or 2.5mm stereo plug is for your electronic circuit, not for the camera. You do not have to use those plugs.
Now you have my full interest :-)) A link would be great.
