Finally got an acrylic globe made, still need to increase the front and back opening to 120mm and 60mm in diameter. I like the current result.

Yes another good shot with the mystery lens, like the detail and the background.
used to do astronomy.

The globe is made of plastic, I think it is acrylic, it is easy to cut, but I am not very good at it, so I asked them to cut it even though they do not guarantee the diameter, I asked for 120mm diameter and I got 100mm, it works though it is a bit hard to position the subject and I have to tinker a bit.

Great result! The globe looks great. It looks uniformly illuminated in the picture, but how do you light it?

Thanks nanometer,

I use two 30W LEDs with adjustable focus which are set to just about cover the globe. The LEDs are positioned on each side and at same level as the center of the globe. [Edit] Power settings are about 1/4, so about 7.5W each[/Edit]

intrigued by your globe set up - the resulting images are looking very good. Where did you get the globe made?
