10X plan apo

Post by Don Parsons »

I'm looking for a 10X plan apo to do some photography of crystals. Ideally it should be 160 mm tube length infinity objective. I've looked around on ebay but haven't found what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

160mm infinity objectives = Zeiss
Keep in mind that Zeiss uses in tube lens corrections, so using substitutes might deliver unsatisfactionary results.

For minerals I would try to have a long working distance and therefore use a 10x Mitutoyo plan apo.

For infinity the tube lens changes the magnification and the image circel. If you use Mitutoyo m plan apo 10x with a 200 mm tube lens focused at infinity you have 10x on sensor and aprox. 30 mm diameter good image circel on sensor. With 160 mm tube lens you have aprox. (160/200)*10 = 0.8*10 = 8x on sensor and 0.8 * 30 = 24 mm good image circel.

Hope this helps
