Water-fleas Daphnia

I recently visited a small Lake south of Calgary, Alberta called Frank Lake. This lake is a favourite spot for birders with a wide variety of shorebirds like Night Herons, Marbled Godwits, White faced Ibis, Black-necked stilts etc. While I was there I brought along my pond collecting gear and collected some water and algae. I found an abundance of Water fleas so decided to take some pictures. Photographing Daphnia requires low power objectives 2.5, 5 and 10X in order to capture the entire animal - 0.5 mm to 6 mm in size. Great set indeed.

But.... just a little correction. The first and the second image shows Ceriodaphnia and the last Simocephalus. I hope I am not too "German"

Thank you for the correction on the species - I will double check, I have some biological keys, but I didn't always get closeups of the claws and I am still learning to identify the genera.

I appreciate the species correction will fix the article shortly.
Do you study Daphnia?
