|
|
For the past 2 weeks I have been photographing Tardigrades also called Water bears collected from Moss and Lichen. I have found as many as 40 water bears in a single Lichen sample. They have 8 legs and crawl around the Petri dish. I posted an article on my web site along with video for those that might like to see more pictures but I wanted to share a few photos of these amazing creatures. I took the pictures with a Zeiss DIC microscope, 20 and 40X, 63X PlanAchromat objectives. I also used Rheinberg lighting on some and took a few photos with my Nikon Polarizing microscope 20X to show the underlying muscle. I used a Nikon D800 and Nikon D500 camera to capture the image using free software Digicam control on my laptop.
