Big amoeba

Image

This picture was snatched in between chasing a ciliate, so it is not optimised and is a bit noisy, but I thought Ken might like an amoeba - ident?

Though we lean upon the same balustrade, the colours of the mountain are different.

It's really got itself stretched out for sure, looks like A. proteus from what I can gather. A little grainy like you said but still a good shot there Graham. :D I am still puzzled over your unidentified ciliate. Looks like it could be Frontonia leucas because of the presence of what appears to be a postoral grove but yet it lacks the large wev with the long ampules and distinctive pore, which may be there but is not seen in your photographs. Dunno. :-k Seems I got off topic here.

Graham... I've watched quite a few amoeba over the past couple years but never seen one as "stretched out" as this one!
