Lithops in bloom

Post by cactuspic »

I will be traveling during the holidays so this will be my last post for a while. I have several lithops that have recently bloomed. Truly a curiosity. After flowering, the bodies will shrivel, split, and the new baby leaves will emerge. During this period, you do not water them as they need to absorb the energy and water stored in the old leaves. I am researching the species.

Hope you enjoy and have a good holiday.

Absolutely wonderful shots again Irwin. If one just sees the plant, you never expect to get blooms like this from them.

I hope you are bringing back lots of exciting pics for us from your holiday. Enjoy it!!

Lithops are so fascinating plants.

Thanks Joan for all your kind comments. I agree. The blooms are one of life's unexpected surprises. Hope to hear that Santa gave you 400 new reasons to take pictures. :D

Thank you Nikola for taking the time to view and comment. Think of a good, rich chocolate recipe for me to begin the New Year. Have a great holiday. :)

Thank you Ken for looking and taking the time to comment. I love the textures of lithops and think that they make the perfect foil for photographing other lithops.

I have a few of these sitting on my window. Everyone thinks they are something made out of plastic and not real plants :D . Excellent photos Irwin.
