3M sanding paper
Testing new addition to the old setup (thanks Charles for the inspiration and idea !)
Very first rough test photo, just to see will this idea work at all , using Mitutoyo 5x and Reichert trinocular head ( tube lens - original Reichert), 117 photos, Chromo Inc LED CI-160 panel. Had to crop little bit right side of the photo (vignetting, missed somewhere in adjustments ). For future - have to bring closer objective to the tube lens, too big distance for the tube lens diameter.

Yes and no - OD is the same but I had to do some "ugly" work to make it fitChrisR wrote:Do Reichert heads fit Nikon scopes dovetails?
No, it is original Reichert head tube lens. Reichert Microstar is infinity corrected microscope, so I decided to take a risk and bought this head ...Where IS the tube lens exactly - is that your Sigma?
Reversed or not?
No, not mine, but my work colleague is 3D printing maniac, like me in macro . Very useful equipment . Let's put it as a very distant goal ...Is the 3D printer yours?
Last photo just for the reference, no idea what grit that paper was

Hi Ichty,Ichthyophthirius wrote: That 3D-printed adapter looks very interesting. Can you show/tell us a bit more?
Assembled adapter looks like this
3d view:

I got some vignetting so I'm going to reduce distance between objective and tube lens. Next design will look :
https://www.3dvieweronline.com/members/ ... dG5EQECW7o
Maybe it is caused by http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 4442#74442 because top adapter was printed with little bit deformed base (not enough cooling)
It will be placed directly below the head inside nosepiece. Inside opening is 30mm and I'm going to use
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301795920714
to attach Mitutoyo objectives
Top adapter
https://www.3dvieweronline.com/members/ ... HECe4ELvp2
is temporary, for the final desing I'm going to use original adapter which came together with the head
Now my macro rig's "head" will have pretty flexible design, I can use macro bellows, nosepiece with trinocular head or simply attach DSLR with Nikkor 70-300mm

Can you see this in your browser ?What does one have to do to see the 3D views?
If yes, you can rotate, zoom in/out and other things If not - most probably you have to try another browser...

Checked top adapter alignment with Plumb Bob app
According Charles
http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 4442#74442
results are not great.
Next version will be shorter:

Hi Ichty,Ichthyophthirius wrote:So you printed an M52 thread into the plastic for the metall filter ring? Did you also glue it in?
It is too fine thread to print with my colleagues printer. For the top part I pressed on 42-52 adapter, no glue. For the bottom red part I pressed in 52mm UV filter ring without glass in order to have normal thread because I have RMS Nikon 50x 0.55 and have to jump between Mitu's & Nikon, no glue also, both sits very well . On the final version (after final adjustments) I'm going to apply few drops of the superglue around edges after pressing in.
Are you going to destroy your Microstar ?
